Healthy Body Healthy Mind

Promoting Healthy Habits for K-6 Students

Healthy Body Healthy Mind is an assembly style program designed to educate students about healthy habits to have a healthy body and a healthy mind. These healthy habits are presented with four main focus areas that are the pillars for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow’s healthy habits:

  1. Sleep
  2. Exercise
  3. Healthy Eating
  4. Healthy Mind Routines/Self Regulation

The program is designed to help students better understand that they are in control of their health and decision making. The choices they make can help them be more successful in the classroom, in athletics, and in their relationships.

The program includes 2 assemblies presented by Joe Burrow Foundation employees. The assemblies are scheduled approximately 30 days apart. Students will gain knowledge about how many hours of sleep they should be getting; the importance of putting devices away prior to bedtime to get their best sleep; the importance of exercise in their daily routine; the importance of eating healthy (especially fruits and vegetables); and strategies for self regulation.

At the conclusion of each session students are provided with fresh produce to take home to their family to help encourage conversations with their family about what they have learned. Some of Joe’s favorite recipes for fresh fruits and vegetables are shared.

Giving children knowledge about how they can take control of their own outcomes by making healthy choices is the goal of this assembly. The assembly is aligned with State Learning Standards and delivered in age appropriate language for learners PreK-6.
