The Joe Burrow Foundation presented its Healthy Body, Healthy Mind program to students of Roll Hill Academy in the East Westwood neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH on Monday, November 10.

Robin and Jim Burrow speaking to the students at Roll Hill Academy during their Healthy Body Healthy Mind event about using the food groups to eat healthy.

JBF’s Healthy Body, Healthy Mind program inspires students to make positive choices that support their overall well-being. Robin and Jimmy Burrow, Joe’s parents and leaders of the Foundation, presented the four pillars guiding Joe’s healthy lifestyle:

  • sleep
  • exercise
  • nutrition
  • mental health

Students were excited to share their own experiences making healthy choices for their minds and bodies.

The Burrows emphasized the importance of getting enough sleep to stay energized and focused. Then, the young learners were invited to get moving and share their favorite ways to stay active while the Burrows discussed how much physical activity is recommended each day. Next, the Burrows helped students identify nutritious foods and their food groups. Finally, the Burrows taught students strategies for managing anger and understanding their emotions.

Following the presentation, students were given “Burrow Bags” full of fresh produce, including sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, apples, clementines, strawberries, and carrots. Each student was supplied with simple, family-friendly recipes to try at home.

Roll Hill Academy’s principal, Ms. Shawnteala Cade, and staff made this Healthy Body, Health Mind event possible. And, volunteers from Lowe’s Home Improvement helped unload, organize, and distribute produce to fill the “Burrow Bags”.
